National Black Theatre Redevelopment will be a 21-story mixed use building and serve as the permanent home for the NBT, ensuring that the theater can continue to grow by offering an array of activities that benefit the public. It will also include community spaces, activated retail, and 222 new residential rental units of which 25% are affordable under the Mandatory Inclusionary Housing and 421-a Affordable New York programs.

The project was designed as a collaboration between Handel Architects and Frida Escobedo Architects. The amenities will include multiple outdoor terraces and roof decks, a communal kitchen, a fitness center, a library, coworking space, a lounge and maker space.
